Make friends with discomfort

Victorians are especially feeling the effect of the Coronavirus.

When restrictions were reviewed, some freedoms were granted and there was an audible…yippee!

We began making plans to get together, to enjoy a meal, to watch a game, albeit with physical distancing still adhered to….as best we could. This reprieve was very brief. Unfortunately, the influx of new COVID-19 cases meant that restrictions were reinstated and there was an audible…sigh!

Changing routine upsets our overall systems and this often has a depressive affect.

More than ever we need to find a way to adopt good self care. To find ways to lift our mood and maintain our well being as best we can. We need to consider what this could mean for us in practical, psychological and medical terms and to reach out for assistance if we need it.

How can we make friends with our discomfort?

How can we befriend our depression, anxiety and stress?

How can we be kind to ourselves and express compassion for our own felt need?

Firstly, we probably need to personally admit, accept and embrace our vulnerability. Secondly, we probably need to take responsibility for any solutions and for making friends with it. Whether or not we choose to share this with people we trust and/or maybe a professional is up to us. Though the benefit we gain from respectful, caring, unconditionally present others is invariably helpful. Ali & Helen also offer non-judgemental, caring and confidential support.
