Hello 2019 and here we go again!

How do we feel about this new year? What do we hope will eventuate? How can we enable this to happen?

Rather than focusing on what we want to get rid of or to stop doing, what about thinking about the things that we need and want to add more of in our lives? The things that might energise us, add lightness and help us in our busy often stressful existence. Things like…more hugs, more quiet moments, taking time to breathe, to share and to talk about things we haven’t spoken of before and to open ourselves up to new possibilities.

Given that we are responsible for our own thoughts, feelings and behaviour we need to find a way to navigate the stuff of life. Much of it is out of our control and our days are full of the ups and downs of everyday happenings. We may not be able to change much of what happens around us but we can change our attitude and our response to it. We can choose what we need to function well enough in the midst of life and we can find meaning to live life well despite the roller coaster of life.

To do this effectively we need to consider this as holistic beings. This includes our emotional, mental, physical, social and spiritual selves. Every aspect requires our attention for us to adapt, to grow and to thrive. We can reflect individually, we can open up to a trusted friend or we can seek professional help to clarify our deepest need and to ascertain the things we want and need to do.

What do we need more of for this to be our truth? What do we need more of to live our best life? What will we choose more of this year?
