R U OK? DAY

Are U OK? How can we be ok when we are in lockdown?

Today is officially R U OK Day, 9 September, 2021.

Today and every day we are encouraged to ask this question of ourselves and of others...

Are you ok?

Are you really ok?

If not, then what have we tried, what seems to be working/not working and what else needs to happen?

Well, firstly lockdown sucks!

Compliance fatigue has sapped us of some energy.

To be honest life is not great for many people.

But confusingly we can, not feel ok, and yet be ok…huh?

We can be ok during lockdown by caring for ourselves and for others too.

As long as we choose to…

Stay in the moment…focus on the jigsaw puzzle or whatever else helps us to not over think.

Acknowledge what we feel…don’t minimise the difficulties or immerse ourselves in them either.

Do what we can to keep as healthy as we can……by going for walks, reading books, sitting in the sunshine, sipping cups of tea or taking more naps.

Whatever works for us and helps us to feel a bit better is what we need to do.

There is no NOOSA holiday and we need some downtime. If camping out on your couch is the closest thing to a break? Then don’t feel lazy, get lazy, try to accept and enjoy it.

We need to be kind to ourselves and to one another.
