Mental Health Day
Our mental health is just as important as our physical health. Let’s take care of it together. How? By telling our stories and admitting our vulnerability. We all get stressed, we all get anxious and we all experience depressive symptoms at times. If we talk about our emotions and articulate what we are going through then we normalise these uncomfortable feelings and can validate how others feel too. If we talk about them we also break down the stigma and invite others to do so too. After sharing how we feel, even just part of our story we open up the opportunity for others to simply respond by saying “Me TOO!”
We are emotional beings and our emotions provide information that can help us to make decisions and to live more mindfully in the present. There is no shame in admission but plenty to gain in a safe relationship when we are authentic with one another.
Mental health week is an annual, national event that aims to improve community awareness and interest in mental health and well being. And World Mental Health Day is marked every year on 10 October.
Make a promise and find an event to help shed a more positive light on mental health and help to reduce the stigma.
