10.10 is World Mental Health Day

Today is MH awareness day and with 3 million Australians suffering from Anxiety and Depression, we can all help to reduce the stigma, by talking openly about it. On Channel Seven's Sunrise this morning, Julie Gillard said "A caring non judgemental conversation helps".

Many people are too embarrassed or ashamed to admit they need help or to seek help. Some are too shy or nervous to tell others that they are getting help and others opt out of sharing about the help they have received...which can normalise the prevalence of Anxiety and Depression and encourage others by admitting that we are not required to be superhuman but simply HUMAN!!

MH Australia has launched a campaign around this day called

'Mental Health begins with ME'

to encourage all Australians to make a personal promise to improves their mental health...an active promise to improve mental health and well being.

Here's one way to make this happen...

We can...Go NUTS!! and learn to take back control and to begin to manage these common brain illnesses so that they no longer control us.

N is for NOTICE...your physiological symptoms, your thinking, your feelings and your behaviour.

U is for UNDERSTAND...family patterns, external stress and the cost of not living to our full potential

T is for TAKING  RESPONSIBILITY...by choosing to challenge our cognitions, express our emotions and regulate our responses.

S is for START to CHANGE...one step at a time...we can begin to restore balance and live well.

So let's be honest and share our own success stories, admit our own need and reach out to accept available help.

Feeling Stuck?

Lets Talk :)
